Unlocking New Possibilities: Argentina Embraces Bitcoin for Contractual Agreements
Diana Mondino, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, recently asserted that a decree authorizing the use of certain currencies in contracts and payments extends to Bitcoin.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on December 21, Mondino indicated that a decree focused on economic reform and deregulation, passed on December 20, would permit the utilization of BTC and other cryptocurrencies in Argentina under specific conditions. Although the decree, titled “Bases for the Reconstruction of the Argentine Economy,” did not explicitly mention cryptocurrencies, it included provisions granting debtors the option to settle payments in currencies not recognized as legal tender in Argentina.
Mondino emphasized, “We ratify and confirm that in Argentina contracts can be settled in Bitcoin,” further stating, “And also any other crypto.”
